About the Tribe
Tribe of the Tree is a new brand of flower essences, made in Australia and sourced from native Australian and international plants. Our products offer healing, insight and wisdom, delivered with a healthy dose of loving energy and a cheeky attitude.
The Tribe’s founders are Scott Harris and Jayne Tancred. We are close friends who share a reverence for nature and a passion for life, laughter and business.
Back in 2010, one of
Jayne’s clients commissioned her to write an article about herbal
medicines from the Amazon. In the course of her research she came across
some staggering statistics.
More than 300,000 species of plants are known to be present in the region and it has been estimated that at least another 20,000 are yet to be identified - so the deforestation of this region that’s occurring due to logging and agriculture has enormous implications for biodiversity, not just locally, but for the entire planet.
About 1,000 species of native plants and animals in the Amazon are considered in immediate danger of extinction, and those numbers are expected to increase if logging continues at its current levels.
These statistics are alarming enough. But as a herbalist and naturopath who has spent much of her career researching and writing about the healing properties of herbs, Jayne was stunned to learn that scientists have documented the medicinal potential of only around 650 of the vast multitude of Amazonian plants.
When the idea of
developing a range of flower essences that helped raise money to protect
endangered medicinal plants came to her, she was drawn to share the idea
with Scott. Together we resolved to follow our intuition and investigate
the opportunity further.
We initially spent a year exploring and
experimenting, creating a new essence every month or so, and
experiencing each one’s effects for ourselves. Every step of the way we
felt our energy becoming lighter, clearer and happier.
Eventually we
asked some friends and
colleagues if they'd give the essences a try, and
were thrilled with the feedback we received: it seemed we weren’t alone
in feeling fantastic and experiencing really tangible shifts when we
took these remedies.
The day one of the volunteers rang us and said, "You've
changed my life" we knew there was no turning back.
